Wisconsin Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary
The VFW Ladies Auxiliary was founded in 1914 to help Veterans and their families. At the dawn of this new Millennium, that is still the primary goal of the organization. The organization has achieved its own unique identity while working side-by-side with the Veterans who belong to the VFW.
The Department of WI Auxiliary was found on July 30, 1925.
On July 20, 2015, delegates to the VFW's 102nd National Convention in Pittsburgh voted to amend the dated by-law to extend the same membership opportunity to eligible males. The gender-specific eligibility requirement only allowing eligible female spouses and family members of any Veteran of a foreign war had been in place for more than 100 years.
Like the VFW, the Auxiliary's interests have broadened to encompass the entire community. The Auxiliary embodies the spirit of America that has prevailed through war and peace. It is solidly behind America today as it was when it was founded.
The Auxiliary is an integral part of the VFW and supports a host of programs which pursue issues of national importance to Veterans. These programs are designed to preserve Veterans rights, advocate a strong national defense, promote patriotism and offer community service.
The Auxiliary is a fraternal, patriotic, historical and educational affiliate of one of the Posts of the VFW.
Its objectives are:
1. Provide assistance to the VFW Post and its members whenever possible.
2. Provide assistance to the Auxiliary members whenever possible.
3. Maintain true allegiance to the Government of the United States of America.
4. Maintain fidelity to the Constitution and Laws of the United States of America.
5. Foster true Patriotism.
6. Maintain and extend the Institutions of American Freedom, Equal Rights and Justice to all men and women.
7. Preserve and Defend the United States of America from all her enemies whomsoever.
To accomplish these objectives, the Auxiliary has established several PROGRAMS listed on this site.
